What Actually Determines Cost

Carpet Grade & Material

Plush, frieze, Berber, loop-pile and cut-pile carpets vary in price and durability grade.

Room Size & Layout

More square footage, more doorways and transitions, and irregular shapes all affect labour time.

Subfloor Condition

A subfloor that needs cleaning, repair or a moisture barrier adds time the quote accounts for.

Carpet Experts Toronto provides professional carpet installation cost throughout Toronto and the surrounding GTA.

Why We Don't Publish a Flat Carpet Price List

Two rooms of the same square footage can cost differently depending on carpet grade, pad, whether old carpet needs removal, and the room's layout. A generic "$X per square foot" number online almost never survives contact with an actual job – it's either misleadingly low or padded to cover worst-case scenarios. We'd rather measure your specific space and give you a number that holds. See our researched price ranges on the homepage calculator for a starting-point estimate.

How We Quote Your Carpet Installation

We ask about the rooms involved, take measurements in person or from a floor plan you provide, talk through carpet and pad options that fit your budget and how the room is used, and then give you an itemized quote covering material, pad, removal if needed, and installation labour, before any work starts.

What an Installed Price Actually Includes

When we quote carpet installation, the number covers the carpet itself, the pad under it, removal and disposal of the old carpet where applicable, and the labour to install – stretching, seaming, edge work and transitions. That matters when you compare quotes, because a low per-square-foot figure that excludes pad, removal or stairs is not a lower price, it is an incomplete one. Our quote is itemized so you can see each component and compare fairly.

Roll Widths, Seams and Why Room Shape Changes the Price

Broadloom typically comes in 12-foot rolls. A room that is 13 feet wide needs a seam and more material than its square footage suggests, while a 11-foot-6 room fits a single width with minimal waste. L-shaped rooms, hallways that turn, and closets all affect how the carpet has to be cut and seamed, which is why two rooms with identical square footage can carry different prices. This is also why we measure rather than quote from a room count over the phone.

Why Stairs Are Priced Differently

Stairs are the most labour-intensive part of any carpet job. Each tread and riser is fitted, tacked and finished individually, and the carpet takes more punishment there than anywhere else in the house, which often justifies a denser grade. Most installers, us included, price stairs per step rather than per square foot. A straight run of thirteen steps is quicker than a staircase with winders or an open side that needs a finished edge, and the quote reflects that.

Where You Can Trim the Budget Without Regretting It

Not every room needs the same grade. A guest bedroom can take a budget synthetic and look great for years, while the hallway and stairs deserve the mid-grade product. Combining rooms into one visit saves on labour compared to piecemeal bookings. Clearing small items, closets and breakables yourself before install day also keeps the labour focused on the floor. What we do not recommend cutting: the pad. Saving a dollar per square foot under the carpet is the classic way to make a good carpet wear out early.

Getting a Number You Can Plan Around

The homepage calculator gives you a researched starting range for Toronto, and the free in-home measure turns that range into a firm itemized quote. No deposit is required to get the number, and the quote does not change after work starts unless you change the scope. Call (365) 517-1861 or send the form and we will book a measure at a time that suits you.

Comparing Quotes Fairly

If you are gathering more than one quote, put them side by side and check four things: is the pad included and specified, is removal and disposal included, are stairs priced clearly, and is the carpet named specifically enough that you could look it up. A quote that is vague on any of those is where surprise costs live. Ours will always answer all four in writing, which makes us comfortable being compared.

The Cheapest Install Is the One You Do Once

A properly stretched, properly padded mid-grade carpet routinely outlasts a bargain install of the same product, because most early carpet failure is installation failure – loose stretch, bad seams, wrong pad. Paying once for careful work costs less per year of use than paying twice for quick work. That is the arithmetic behind everything on this page, and it is why our quotes describe exactly what the labour includes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you give me a rough price over the phone?

We can talk through general ranges once we know the room size, carpet type you're considering, and whether old carpet needs to come out, but a firm number comes from a proper measure and quote.

Is the quote itemized, or one lump sum?

Itemized – material, pad, removal (if applicable) and labour are broken out so you can see what you're paying for.

Are there hidden costs that show up after the quote?

The quote is based on the scope we assess upfront. If something changes once work starts, like a subfloor issue found during removal, we'll talk to you before proceeding, not after.
