Pile direction has to run consistently across seamed pieces or the two sides will forever read as slightly different colours. Stretch-In or Glue-Down

Residential wall-to-wall is usually a stretch-in install – tackless strip at the walls, pad in the field, carpet power-stretched drum-tight across the room. It feels softer, insulates better, and makes future replacement simpler. Direct glue-down, common in commercial settings and some condos, bonds the carpet straight to the subfloor: flatter underfoot, no re-stretching ever, and better for rolling loads, at the cost of cushion.
