Old carpet, pad and tackless strip removed
And disposed of – you're not left with rolled-up carpet to deal with.
What every job includes.
And disposed of – you're not left with rolled-up carpet to deal with.
Not after – issues get caught while the floor is still bare.
For most single-room and small jobs, removal and install happen the same day.
So it doesn't ripple within a season.
Cut into manageable sections; pad is often more degraded than the carpet itself.
Checked for damage, unevenness or moisture once the old carpet is out of the way.
Old carpet, pad and tackless strip removed from the property as part of the job.
Carpet Experts Toronto provides professional carpet removal & installation throughout Toronto and the surrounding GTA.
Once removal is done and the subfloor is confirmed sound, new tackless strip and pad are installed, followed by the new carpet, stretched into place with a power stretcher so it holds tight at the edges. Seams are placed away from doorways and high-traffic sightlines and sealed properly, and transition strips are fitted wherever the new carpet meets another flooring type.
Single rooms, full-home re-carpets, and commercial spaces – the removal-and-install process scales the same way whether it's one bedroom or an entire office floor, just with more coordination on scheduling for larger jobs.
Old carpet comes out in controlled sections, not one dusty heave. We cut it into strips, roll them tight, and carry them out along a protected path – the same for the old pad, which usually tears away in pieces and gets bagged. Staples and old tackless strip are pulled where they are being replaced, and the subfloor gets a vacuum and sweep before anything new arrives. In condos and multi-storey homes, we plan the carry-out route in advance so old carpet is not dragged across finished floors.
The hours between removal and installation are the only honest look a subfloor gets in decades, and we use them. We check plywood for soft spots, lifted edges and squeaks that are cheap to screw down now and annoying to live with later. On concrete, we look for dusting, cracks and any sign of dampness. Most of the time the report is "all good, carrying on" – but when something needs attention, catching it with the floor bare is what keeps it from becoming a problem under your new carpet.
Old carpet and pad leave with us. We haul and dispose of them properly, which in practice means you are not left flagging down a bulk-pickup slot or renting a trailer for a few hundred pounds of rolled broadloom. If you want to keep a piece – some clients save a remnant for a pet bed or a workshop mat – say so before we load up.
For a typical room or two, removal and installation happen in one visit: old carpet out in the morning, subfloor checked, new carpet stretched in and finished the same day. Whole-home jobs are sequenced room by room so you always have somewhere to be, and we will tell you honestly when a job is big enough to need a second day rather than promising a sprint that compromises the stretch and seam work.
Clear what you can: small furniture, lamps, electronics, anything fragile or personal. Large furniture is part of the plan – tell us what needs moving when we quote so the time is built in. Plan for pets to be somewhere calm, keep a path from the door to the work area open, and expect some noise during tack-strip and stretching work. That is the whole list. Call (365) 517-1861 with the details of your rooms and we will set the date.
Sometimes the job is removal only – clearing old carpet before a hardwood install, a renovation, or a sale listing. We take on stand-alone removal work as well: carpet, pad, staples and tackless strip out, subfloor swept, debris hauled away. It is quicker to book than a full install and leaves the floor ready for whatever comes next, whoever is doing it.
The crew that removes your old carpet is the crew that installs the new one, which means what they learn about your subfloor in the morning informs how they stretch and seam in the afternoon. No handoffs, no second company, no gap between tear-out and install where your house sits bare.
One call books the whole sequence. Tell us the rooms, whether furniture needs moving, and anything unusual about access – parking, stairs, elevator bookings – and we will confirm a date with the removal and install planned as a single piece of work. The number is (365) 517-1861, and the quote form works just as well if you prefer to start in writing.
We remove and dispose of the old carpet, pad and tackless strip as part of the job.
No – removal is done carefully, and we check the subfloor once the old carpet is out to catch anything that needs attention before new carpet goes down.
For most single-room and small jobs, yes. Larger jobs may be scheduled over more than one day – we'll confirm timing as part of your quote.
