The most unusual staircase in this collection: an open-riser flight in a scribed log home, its treads cut from half-logs, each one a different width, depth and curve. Every tread was individually templated and wrapped in a muted green-grey carpet, secured around the log's natural contours with the gaps between steps left open as the staircase was designed.
Open risers mean every wrapped edge is visible from below, and log treads mean not one straight reference line on the whole staircase – handwork from the first template to the last staple.
The carpet adds grip and quiet to a staircase that gets daily use, without hiding an ounce of the log construction's character.
