Two connected flights meeting at a dark wood landing, both re-carpeted in a soft greige cut pile. The lower flight was wrapped fully, treads and risers, while the upper run pairs carpeted treads with crisp painted risers and skirt – two different finishes on one staircase, planned so the transition at the landing reads deliberate rather than accidental.
The tight stairwell and the modern metal railing meant careful trimming along the open edge and around every baluster point. Each tread was tacked tight at the nosing so the carpet stays secure under daily traffic between floors.
A compact, high-traffic job – the kind of staircase a household climbs dozens of times a day, finished so it feels solid and quiet underfoot.
